The Chicago White Sox besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Arizona center fielder Dominic Fletcher by beating the Diamondbacks, 4-3, at Guaranteed Rate Field. Fletcher was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Andrew Perez. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-3. The last-place White Sox lifted their record to 72-87.

Chicago got a knockout punch from Colson Montgomery. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Chicago manager Sid Hamlin.
