With Late Score, Orioles Beat Blue Jays
|
Toronto got a valiant performance from pitcher Chris Eagleson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore won the game, 3-2. Eagleson threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Steve Herd in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Chris Hordge took the loss. Jhonanderson Quimby recorded his 14th save for Baltimore.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Weldon Willerton came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Toronto pitcher Chris Hordge, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 3-2.
Willerton attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
The Blue Jays, now 72-85, have lost 5 in a row.
