Pittsburgh Gets 5-2 Win
|
Paul Skenes propelled his team to victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The final score was 5-2, Pittsburgh. Skenes, now 7-13, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Dauri Moreta picked up his 31st save of the season.
Pittsburgh used a well-timed hit by Endy Rodriguez to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Pirates ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"Winning is the only objective," said Skenes after the game.
Pittsburgh bumps their record to 73-83 with the win.
