8-4 Win Takes Yankees to 93-63
|
The Oakland Athletics got a sterling performance from third baseman Curtis Mead, but the New York Yankees still prevailed, 8-4. Mead went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Carlos Rodón. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The left--hander struck out 6 and walked 3. Earning his 2nd save for New York was Jose Leclerc.
New York used a timely hit from DJ LeMahieu to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yankees ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," LeMahieu told the New York Daily News.
With the win, the Yankees have a record of 93-63.
