The Houston Astros got a superb performance from pitcher Edwin Gonzalez, but the Los Angeles Angels still won the game, 6-5. Gonzalez threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The second-place Astros now sit at 86-69.
Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Matthew Clark to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Angels on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Clark.
