The 3-hit performance of Elly De La Cruz, who finished 4th in the NL in triples with 8 in 2023, helped the Cincinnati Reds beat the Miami Marlins, 9-2. The winning pitcher was Chase Petty. His record now stands at 8-10. The right-hander went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits for the Reds. Cincinnati goes to 73-84, Miami to 81-75.

Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Spencer Steer to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Reds ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager Creig McBride.
