Giants Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
The San Francisco Giants got a magnificent effort from pitcher Jaime Hawks, who kept St. Louis hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Giants win at Oracle Park. Hawks got the win, improving to 6-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. San Francisco is now 70-83, while St. Louis is 87-65.
The Giants got a big at-bat from right fielder Pat Adams. For the game, Adams was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 1-0 lead.
"Jaime giving us the start that he did was huge," said San Francisco manager Evan Giffels.
