Red Sox Win Streak Reaches 7
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees, 4-1, at Yankee Stadium. Starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Montgomery, now 13-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Josh Hader, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 36th save.
Nick Decker, who is tied for 6th in the AL in bases on balls with 81, had a direct impact on the outcome. Decker contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Boston up, 2-0.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Red Sox manager Joe Curtis. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
At 95-57, the Red Sox have a slim two-game lead in the American League East Division.
