The Minnesota Twins weathered an outstanding game by Kansas City first baseman Curtis Mead to topple the Royals, 6-5. Mead was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Minnesota is now 76-72, Kansas City 78-69.

Minnesota used the bat of Emmanuel Rodriguez to capture the win. The pinch hitter jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins ahead, 6-5. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a dandy.

"Not the sexiest win," said Twins manager Ryan Ranta, "but I'll take it."
