Walk-Off Seals 87th Victory for Yankees
|
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Bobby Miller, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Yankees. New York won the Yankee Stadium contest, 4-3. Miller threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. New York pitcher Michael King got the win. He's now 7-0. Kenley Jansen was tagged with the loss. Boston now has a 5-game losing streak.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 3-2, Ben Rortvedt hit a sinker from Kenley Jansen to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Yankees had a walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Rortvedt said in his postgame press conference.
