Cincinnati Hands St. Louis 5-1 Defeat
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Tink Hence, but the Cincinnati Reds still won the game, 5-1. Hence threw 5.2 innings of 0-hit ball. The 'W' lifts Cincinnati's record to 66-81.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Jake Fraley to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Reds ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Fraley called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
