Athletics Clonk Mariners, 4-2
|
Starting pitcher Drew Rucinski held up his part of the bargain, helping the Oakland Athletics stymie the Seattle Mariners, 4-2. The save was credited to Zach Jackson, his 33rd. The Athletics, at 68-73, have now won 4 straight.
The Athletics got an important contribution from right fielder Conner Capel, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-1 fastball into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 3-0.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Seattle manager Andres Wray.
