In a low-scoring tilt between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs, Frankie Montas was the difference-maker. The Pittsburgh right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Ben Bowden picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-3. Adbert Alzolay was tagged with the loss. The victory gives the Pirates a record of 66-65.

Malcom Nunez was the walk-off hero for Pittsburgh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pirates first baseman hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.

In comments to the Pittsburgh Chronicle, Montas admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
