The Chicago Cubs weathered an outstanding game by Detroit shortstop Cristian Santana to topple the Tigers, 8-3. Santana went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Humberto Mejia, who is tied for 7th in the NL in quality starts with 13, was the winner. He's now 10-7. The loser was Tarik Skubal. The win puts the Cubs at 64-61, while the Tigers drop to 67-59.

Chicago used the hitting of Geuri Lubo to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-1. For the game, Lubo had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Lubo.
