Cardinals Down Reds, 4-2
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a strong performance from pitcher Jordan Montgomery, who stymied the Cincinnati offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati now has a 5-game losing streak.
St. Louis used a clutch hit from Nolan Arenado to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
After the game, St. Louis manager David Mendel applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
