Phillies Sneak By Dodgers, 3-2
|
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 3-2. Leading the way was first baseman Mark Vientos. Vientos was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times for the Phillies. Philadelphia pitcher Morgan McSweeney got the win. He's now 4-2. Alex Vesia was tagged with the loss. The third-place Phillies go to 58-55.
Vientos had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Alex Vesia, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Phillies a 3-2 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Vientos.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Philadelphia skipper Michael Ames. "I can't complain."
