The Texas Rangers faced a tough opponent in Houston pitcher Jaime Melendez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Globe Life Field by a final score of 5-2. Melendez went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Texas reliever Chase Lee picked up the win, raising his record to 4-0. Kendall Graveman was tagged with the loss. Marc Church earned his 11th save in 11 chances.

The Rangers got a big at-bat from catcher Jonah Heim. For the game, Heim went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Texas a 5-2 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Heim said.

Texas goes to 62-52. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
