Giants Drop 8-4 Decision
|
Due in large part to designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, the Houston Astros sunk the San Francisco Giants, 8-4. Alvarez was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. Cristian Javier got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 3 innings. Aaron Combs earned his 32nd save, after closing out the game.
Pedro Leon was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk against the Giants. With the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Houston in front, 5-4.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Leon said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
Houston now sits at 64-51, while San Francisco falls to 58-57.
