Gorman Jacks Two Home Runs in 7-2 St. Louis Win
|
St. Louis designated hitter Nolan Gorman had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Washington Nationals, 7-2. Zack Thompson got credit for the win, improving to 8-4. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. St. Louis leads the National League Central Division by 5½ games.
With St. Louis leading 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Gorman hit a 2-run home run off Washington hurler Stephen Strasburg. It was the 28th home run of the season for Gorman and put his team ahead, 6-2.
"I felt good up there," said Gorman. "I saw the ball well."
