Skubal Lifts Tigers to Win
|
2024 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Cleveland Guardians.
Tarik Skubal never let Cleveland get something going. The Detroit left-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Tigers to a 5-1 win. The Guardians, at 41-62, have lost 4 in a row.
Skubal, the winner, is now 11-8 after putting the clamps on the Cleveland offense. In 9 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 5 hits, while collecting 6 Ks.
"Tarik -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Tigers manager Snake Clement. "He was the key to us winning."
