Late Rally by Mariners Locks Up 4-2 Win
|
The Seattle Mariners took Los Angeles pitcher Brett Kerry's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The final score had Seattle getting past the Angels, 4-2. Kerry went 5 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Seattle reliever Casey Sadler got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Ivan Armstrong was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Andres Munoz, his 17th.
Seattle used the timely hitting of J.P. Crawford to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mariners on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Los Angeles manager Bill Webb. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
The loss makes Los Angeles 40-54.
