Mets Keep Streak Alive With 7-1 Win
|
The New York Mets picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 7-1. Starting pitcher Jacob deGrom was an essential part of his team's success. deGrom got the win, improving to 12-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. deGrom allowed 1 run. Today's win puts New York at 60-34, while Washington falls to 35-59.
The Mets got a big at-bat from third baseman Jeff McNeil. For the game, McNeil went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
"We're playing like a well-oiled machine right now," said Mets manager Dave Gawron.
