Reds Rally Late to Nip Guardians
|
The Cincinnati Reds racked up a win at Progressive Field, bumping off the Cleveland Guardians, 5-4, in 11 innings. Chase Petty, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. Andrew Nardi was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-5. The losing pitcher was Franco Aleman. At 45-48, the Reds are currently third in the National League Central Division.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Cleveland pitcher Franco Aleman, he hit a 1-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 5-4.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Petty said.
