Losing Streak Continues for Nationals with 6-5 Loss to Cardinals
|
Stone Garrett had a good game, but he could not keep the Washington Nationals from falling, 6-5, to the St. Louis Cardinals at Nationals Park. The Washington left fielder went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once in the loss. The first-place Cardinals have a record of 51-39.
St. Louis used the bat of Lars Nootbaar to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We're in a funk right now," said Washington skipper Joe Bubanj.
