Loss to Cardinals Extends Washington Losing Streak
|
The exploits of designated hitter Nolan Gorman, who is tied for 4th in the NL in home runs with 22, helped the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Washington Nationals, 5-1. Gorman went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Cardinals, at 50-39, sit in first place in the National League Central Division.
In the top of the fifth, with St. Louis leading 3-0, the Nationals allowed the Cardinals to go up, 5-0, on a base hit and Washington error.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Washington manager Joe Bubanj.
