Though he had a terrific game, Brady House could not prevent his team, the Washington Nationals, from absorbing a loss. Pittsburgh won the game, 6-5. House went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner in relief was Caden Grice. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3. With the victory, the Pirates record stands at 32-57.

Had Griff O'Ferrall not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, O'Ferrall hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Pirates.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," O'Ferrall told a Pittsburgh Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
