deGrom Now 10-2 After Subduing Nationals
|
The New York Mets picked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 6-1. Starting pitcher Jacob deGrom was a big reason why. Brooks Raley notched his 2nd save in 6 chances. New York improves to 50-34 with the win. They lead their division by 5½ games.
deGrom's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 7 strikeouts in 7.2 innings while allowing 5 hits. deGrom, who finished 4th in the NL in strikeouts with 248 last year, goes to 10-2 on the year with 124 strikeouts.
"Jacob did a tremendous job," said New York manager Dave Gawron.
