The Minnesota Twins knocked off the Las Vegas Athletics, 6-3, in American League action at Las Vegas Stadium. Minnesota pitcher and Taylorsville, North Carolina, native Joe Partington had an outstanding performance. Alex Scherff was credited with the save for Minnesota, his 29th of the season. The first-place Twins now have a win-loss record of 51-34.

Minnesota used a clutch at-bat from Carlos Correa to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Twins ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Partington. "It eases the tension."
