Riding the 4-hit performance of the 25-year old second baseman Nick Allen, the Oakland Athletics stopped the Minnesota Twins, 7-2. Royber Salinas got the win, improving to 3-5. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The second-place Athletics now have a 4-game winning streak.

Oakland third baseman Curtis Mead contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 62nd hit of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 4-2.
