Pirates Beat Reds, 6-2
|
Behind an impressive start by JT Brubaker, Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati, 6-2. Picking up the save was David Bednar, his 17th. The Pirates go to 37-36, putting them third in the National League Central Division.
The Pirates got an important contribution from shortstop Oneil Cruz, who in the bottom of the third punched a full count sinker into center for a run-scoring double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 3-1.
Pirates manager Josh Peterson raved about Brubaker after the game. "I thought JT was 'lights out.'"
