Extra-Inning Win by Phillies Over Cardinals
|
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3, in 15 innings. Doing his part was first baseman Mark Vientos, who went 2 for 5 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. By defeating St. Louis, the 4th-place Phillies improved to 38-37.
The Phillies got a clutch hit from right fielder Nick McLain. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Phillies.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Vientos.
