Royals Get One-Run Win at Chicago
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher Sean Murphy, the Chicago Cubs lost to the Kansas City Royals, 5-4. Murphy was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Hunter Greene earned the win for Kansas City. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-8. Victor Pena notched his 20th save in 20 chances.
Junior Marino, who is tied for 6th in the AL in bases on balls with 38, chipped in a run-scoring hit-by-pitch for Kansas City in the top of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Marino said.
With the win over Chicago, the Royals improved to 34-40.
