Guardians Lose to Blue Jays, 7-6
|
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Cleveland Guardians, 7-6, at Rogers Centre. The win was due in part to third baseman Santiago Espinal, who went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Ricky Tiedemann, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The Blue Jays go to 30-40, putting them last in the American League East Division.
With Toronto leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Espinal hit a fastball from Daniel Espino for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 6-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Espinal. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
