Philadelphia Dismisses San Francisco, 6-3
|
Philadelphia took on San Francisco in front of a lively crowd.
The Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the San Francisco Giants, 6-3, in National League action at Oracle Park. Philadelphia pitcher and Valrico, Florida, native Sean Hermann had an outstanding performance. In 5.1 innings, Hermann surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
Philadelphia used a clutch at-bat from Jimmy Schafer to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Sean is a tough competitor," said Philadelphia manager Nate Rogers.
With the win, Philadelphia raised its record to 35-33.
