Humberto Mejia could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Chicago Cubs lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Cleveland reliever Franco Aleman picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Humberto Mejia took the loss. Cleveland bumps their record to 31-38 with the win.

Petey Halpin drew 1 walk for Cleveland. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Humberto Mejia. It was his 19th RBI of the season.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Chicago manager Paul Husch. "But we decided not to take it."
