Angels Stun Rangers, 2-0
|
Los Angeles beat Texas on the strength of starting pitcher Carlos Rodón's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-0. Max Gieg, now 2-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Dave Funkhouser finished to wrap up his 8th save.
Los Angeles needed the clutch hitting of Malcom Nunez to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Angels on top, 2-0. For the game, Nunez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Nunez said.
The loss makes Texas 37-31.
