Athletics Turn Back Kansas City, 5-4
|
Las Vegas beat Kansas City at Las Vegas Stadium, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Cameron Leach. He was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Las Vegas reliever Jose Lopez picked up the win to move to 1-3. Jose Urquidy suffered the loss. Picking up the save was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Sam Hentges.
Leach had a timely hit for Las Vegas in the bottom of the sixth. With Las Vegas trailing 4-1, he turned a 2-2 curveball into a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Las Vegas.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Kansas City manager Patrick Ochs. "The effort was great."
With the win, Las Vegas goes to 33-31, while the Royals fall to 25-38.
