Twins Lose Contest, 5-3
|
Dylan Smith was superb against Minnesota. The right-hander, who is tied for 5th in the AL in wins with 6, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Tigers victory. The score was 5-3. In 5.1 innings, Smith surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Detroit is now 36-24, while Minnesota is 38-23.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from center fielder Riley Greene. For the game, Greene was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 22nd double of the season gave Detroit a 4-1 lead.
Said losing manager Ryan Ranta: "We just didn't get it done tonight."
