Diamondbacks Use Late Score to Top Giants, 9-8
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks got a hard-earned win over the San Francisco Giants, 9-8, in 13 innings. TJ Friedl provided some offensive muscle for Arizona. He was 5 for 6 with a home run, a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The winner in relief was Cody Stashak. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Tyler Glasnow was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Arizona used the timely hitting of Juan Corniel to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Diamondbacks on top, 9-8. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Corniel.
The slumping Giants have lost 6 straight.
