Pittsburgh Pirates starter Michael Kennedy was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Minnesota Twins, 2-0. The winner was Kennedy. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Åke Piechnik. The 4th-place Pirates go to 21-38.

Pittsburgh used a clutch at-bat from Matt Gorski to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Pittsburgh manager Josh Peterson.
