The Washington Nationals and New York Mets obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Washington Nationals defeated the New York Mets, 7-6, at Nationals Park. Drew Waters, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 7 in 2023, was a standout performer for Washington. His 4 hits included 1 single and 3 doubles -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. McKinley Moore earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-2.

Washington took a 7-6 lead on Ty Waid's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Waid hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Chase Hungate visibly frustrated.
