Mets Hammered by Valero Sanchez, Drop Game 3 to Pirates
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading New York Mets, winning 6-4 at Citi Field today. Pirates first baseman Cesar Valero Sanchez went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win cuts the deficit facing the Pirates to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Julio Rodriguez, the Pittsburgh left fielder, contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to make the score 6-4, Pirates. For the game, Rodriguez was 1 for 4 with a double and was hit by a pitch.
"We're happy," Rodriguez told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
