The New York Mets moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road at PNC Park by a score of 2-1. Mets left-hander Hunter Barco had a strong outing. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Mets a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

Barco earned the win, going 8 strong innings for New York. The left-hander allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 8. Pittsburgh hitters had little success against him.

"Every team in baseball loses," Pirates manager Jimmy Serrano said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Citi Field in New York.
