The Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-4, in National League action at PNC Park. Pittsburgh pitcher Frankie Montas had a standout performance. Alex Reyes picked up the win in relief for Pittsburgh, while Cody Stashak took the loss.
Corey Julks hit a run-scoring double off Cody Stashak in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Pirates in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, Julks had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Montas told the Pittsburgh Chronicle. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
Pittsburgh's record now stands at 28-23, placing them first in the National League Central Division.
