Pirates Lose Late, 7-5
|
The San Francisco Giants topped the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 7-5. Leading the way was first baseman Wilmer Flores. Flores went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Giants. Camilo Doval sewed up the save, his 14th. The victory gives the Giants a record of 26-23.
San Francisco used a clutch hit from Thairo Estrada to get the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Estrada, "one at-bat at a time."
