Red Sox Lose 8-5 Decision to Tampa Bay
|
The Tampa Bay Rays weathered a fine game by Boston right fielder Seiya Suzuki to upend the Red Sox, 8-5, at Tropicana Field. Suzuki went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win went to Enmanuel Mejia in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Tim Mayza took the loss. The setback makes Boston 27-22.
Jarred Kelenic broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh with a run-scoring walk. It put the Rays in front, 5-4. For the game, Kelenic was 1-2 with 2 walks.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Kelenic.
