Tigers Drop Royals, 10-9
|
The 10-9 Detroit win over Kansas City was due in large part to Cristian Santana. The Tigers shortstop was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Detroit reliever Reese Olson picked up the win to move to 2-4. DL Hall suffered the loss. The victory gives Detroit a record of 26-20.
Kerry Carpenter, who is a two-time All-Star, helped out the Detroit cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 3 with a double. He scored 2 runs.
"Both teams had plenty of clutch hits," said Carpenter. "It made for an exciting game."
