Skidding Cardinals Lose 7th Straight
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Tink Hence, but the Boston Red Sox still won the game, 5-2. Hence threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Josh Hader recorded his 8th save for Boston. Boston currently is in 4th place in the American League East Division at 21-24.
Boston used a clutch hit from Triston Casas to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said St. Louis skipper David Mendel.
