Giants Absorb 6-1 Home Loss
|
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Bryce Eldridge, but the New York Mets still won the game, 6-1. Eldridge threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Prelander Berroa, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in wins with 5, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. With the win, the Mets have a record of 23-19.
The Mets got a big at-bat from right fielder Luisangel Acuna. For the game, Acuna was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said New York manager Dave Gawron.
