Rangers Fall to Royals Late
|
The Kansas City Royals earned a close win over the Texas Rangers, thanks in part to Daniel Vitriago. The Kansas City left-hander, who is tied for 7th in the AL with a 10.8 K/9 rate, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. The winner was Kansas City reliever DL Hall, now 1-0. The loser was Shane Bieber. Victor Pena notched his 9th save of the season.
Kansas City took a 3-1 lead on Carter Jensen's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Jensen hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Texas pitcher Shane Bieber visibly frustrated.
"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Vitriago.
The setback makes Texas 23-17.
