The St. Louis Cardinals tallied a win at Busch Stadium, throttling the Minnesota Twins, 4-1. Starting pitcher Hunter Owen was a big reason for his team's success. Evan Phillips closed the game out for St. Louis, earning his 13th save. With the win, St. Louis upped its record to 25-14.

The Twins had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Cardinals going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old catcher Leonardo Bernal came to the plate. Bernal hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from Minnesota hurler Jack O'Connor. It was Bernal's 5th double of the year.

"Hunter's stuff looked really, really crisp," said David Mendel, the Cardinals manager.
